What's Wrong With America?
John Sweeney weighs in on the Huffington Post
about the recent mining disaster in Utah and the
neglect for miners' safety that allowed it to happen.

Three Rulings and a Review
Not happy with just matching the uneven wealth
distribution of the 1920's, dissatisfied with merely
watching the contract between workers and
employers erode like a sand castle at high tide, the
conservative-fortified Supreme Court is welcoming
the second coming of the robber barons with three
cheers -- make that three rulings.

Senate Republicans Block Labor Bill
Senate Republicans on Tuesday blocked a bill that would
have allowed labor organizations to unionize workplaces
without secret ballot elections. Democrats were unable
to get the 60 votes needed to force consideration of the
Employee Free Choice Act, ending labor's chance to win
its top legislative priority from Congress.

The final vote was 51-48.

would have a lockout or a strike.

Please make sure your contact information is up to date with Donna
at the hall, and you can email her at Donna Cunningham if you
have any changes that need to be updated or would like to add
your email address to the union's database. If you'd like to
recommend a change to the web site, please email the
webmaster with those requests.

There is a Yahoo message board set up all of our 148 members.
Sign up if you want to receive email notices to your home email
address with any important information that the administration
wants to get out quickly, or to just go chat with other
