ATTENTION AmerenUE Members!

An Important Reminder 
About Sick Leave Use

At the beginning of each year, AmerenUE counsels or disciplines employees who exceeded the “bargaining unit’s average sick leave use” during the prior year. 

In some of these cases, discipline would have been unnecessary if only the members had completed and filed Form 4801 (Sick Leave Excused Absence) or a similar statement from their health care provider certifying the excused absence.

The company does not know whether your absence was excused unless you tell them. You inform the company by presenting evidence from your health care provider within 60 calendar days of your return to work. If you don’t file Form 4801 or if you file it late, you won’t get credit for the excused sick leave. Instead, those hours are added to your sick leave hours — and they may put you over the limit.

Remember that filing Form 4801 is your responsibility. It’s not the company’s responsibility. It’s not the union’s responsibility. It’s yours.
